Bears Compete at New England Championship

GORHMAN, Maine – The Coast Guard men's cross country team finished off their 2017 season with a 21st place finish at the 2017 NCAA Division III New England Championship Saturday morning.

The Bears scored 601 points for 21st place. MIT won the meet with 81 points followed by Amherst with 91 points.

Coast Guard's top finisher was junior Colton Atkinson crossing the line in 86th place (26:58.1). Following Atkinson was sophomore Jacob Panning 120th place (27:33.6).

Junior Alex Kearney was next for the Bears running 27:35.9 (123rd place) with sophomore Andre Gallant finishing in 27:52 (136th place).

Rounding out the top seven for Coast Guard was junior Ryan Brumm (28:00.8, 141st place), freshman Matthew Doyle (28:03.4, 145th place) and sophomore Andrew Segalla (28:31.7, 164th place).

The Bears return 21 runners next season that look to build on a successful 2017 season.
