Bears Split at Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Bears lost against the defending National Collegiate Champion Army in Free Pistol (1794 to 1941), Standard Pistol (1966 to 2074) and Air Pistol (2121 to 2174). In the other match-up, the Bears defeated The Citadel in two out of the three events. In the three-match aggregate, the Bears fired a 5881, while the Black Knights fired a 6207, and the Citadel fired a 5861.  

Senior Jacob Sibilski led the Bears with a combined score of 1497, firing a 532 Air Pistol, 509 Standard Pistol, and a 456 Free Pistol. Co-captain senior Laura Carts led the Bears in Free Pistol with a 460, Senior Brian Hills led the Bears in Air Pistol with a 533, and Freshman Emily Burlison led the team with a 512 in Standard Pistol.  

In Women's Sport Pistol, junior Corrin Nolin fired a 514 to lead the Coast Guard team, firing 1479 to 1433 for the Black Knights' women team, and a 1494 for the Citadel's women team.

The Bears Women's air pistol team fired a 1034 versus Army's 1043 and Citadel's 1023. Freshman Emily Burlison was the high shooter for the Bears with a 350. In the Women's aggregate, the Bears were victorious firing a combined score of 2513, to Citadel's 2507, and the Black Knights' 2476.

Carts, Hills, Sibilski, and sophomore Caleb Metroka were members of Coast Guard's five-man team in all disciplines, while co-captain junior Hannah Cronin fired in the Free Pistol event, while Nolin fired in the Standard Pistol event, and Burlison fired on the Air Pistol team.

The Bears pistol team is doing very well, but will travel this weekend to compete against the US Naval Academy on Jan. 25th and 26th.
