Bears Take Silver at NRCA Sectional

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The Bears placed second among a four team field at the NRA Collegiate Pistol Sectionals. The Sectionals determines which teams will garner an invitation to the Collegiate National Championships. The scores in the three events were: Free Pistol (1931), Air Pistol (2147), and Standard Pistol (1988).

Senior Jacob Sibilski led the Bears with a combined score of 1608 and led the team in all three components, firing a 551 Standard Pistol, 503 Free Pistol, and 554 in Air Pistol. Senior Brian Hills fired the second best scores on the team, firing a 522 Standard Pistol, a 495 Free Pistol, and a 546 in Air Pistol.  

In the women's events, junior Corrin Nolin fired the team's high score of 876 to lead the Coast Guard team to a Silver medal performance. The Bear's Women's air pistol fired 1050, and the Sport Pistol team fired a 1566.

Hills, sophomore Caleb Metroka, Nolin, and freshman Emily Burlison were members of Coast Guard's four-person scoring team in all disciplines.

The Pistol team ends the regular season with a 5 – 6 record. At the next competition, the Bears will travel to Fort Benning, Georgia, March 8th for the Collegiate National Pistol Championships. They will face the nation's top eight Collegiate Pistol Teams. Both the Open Team and the Women's Team will face stiff competition, but they are aiming for gold.
