NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard won all open events to win a home tri-match with MIT and Yale over the weekend.
The Bears won decisively the three open team events with freshman Brian Kim leading the team in Open Air Pistol, Free Pistol, and Standard Pistol and the individual field.
Kim's 563 in Air Pistol was supported by sophomore Kevin Lennox and fellow freshmen Oh, Reid Wiegleb, and Nick Woolfolk. The team enjoyed a 46 point edge over second place MIT with Yale in third place.
The Bears kept the pressure on the opposition with a 51 point advantage over MIT in Standard Pistol, 2077 to 2016, as Kim once again shot the best score, this time a 537. Lehenbauer, Sukcha, Wiegleb, and Woolfork rounded out the team in this event.
The Women's Air Pistol match saw MIT best Coast Guard by six points, 1071 to 1065. Oh was top gun in the event shooting a 367. Sophomore Meghan Van Hise was joined by Mary Carr and Lehenbauer to round out the team.
The women Bears lost again to MIT in Sport pistol. Once again Oh led Van Hise, Carr, and Lehenbauer as the Bears posted a score of 1506 to MIT's 1603.
The Coast Guard Pistol Team continues to improve on a weekly basis. The team has a two week break as it prepares to face Navy at Home on the 21st and 22nd of November.
