Bears Win Admirals Cup

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Coast Guard Academy Rifle Team (4412), won the Admiral's Cup defeating SUNY Maritime (4148), John Jay (4122), University of the Sciences Mixed (4039), and University of the Sciences Women (3980).

Freshman Nicholas Paisker led the Bears with a combined score of 1120, firing a 553 in small-bore and a 567 in air rifle. He led the Bears in air rifle, while Senior co-captain Alexis Chavarria-Aguilar fired the high team score in smallbore rifle (557).

The Bears fired a team score of 2182 in smallbore and a 2230 in air rifle. While SUNY Maritime fired a 2002 and 2146, John Jay fired a 1968 and 2154, University of the Sciences Mixed fired a 2008 and 2031, and University of the Sciences Women fired a 1942 and 2038 in smallbore and air rifle respectively.

Second highest small-bore shooter for the Bears was Paisker with a 553 with Chavarria-Aguilar firing a 560 in air rifle.
Senior co-captain Daniela Andrade, Chavarria-Aguilar, Sophomore Katya Resney, Junior co-captain Marek Pilarski and Paisker were members of Coast Guard's five-man team in both disciplines.This sweep by the Bear's rifle program shows the team is making improvement and will be competitive in the upcoming competitions.  

The Bears face another onslaught of competitors when the Bears travel to MIT for the Bean Pot Championships against MIT, Wentworth, and Canisius College for a two-day competition, January 25th and 26th.
