NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The second major snow storm of the week did little to slow the Coast Guard rifle team. Scheduled for a shoulder- to-shoulder competition with Loyola of Maryland. The storm kept the Greyhounds confined to their Baltimore campus. Mid Atlantic Conference rules required the home team to shoot the match as scheduled and Coast Guard went on to shoot a year high score of 2208 in smallbore.
The team was anchored by personal bests from a trio of Bears, Freshman Nick Paisker, 567, sophomore Katiya Resney, 543, and junior Marek Pilarski, 542. Junior Alexis Chavarra-Aquilar's 556 rounded out the team's best performance to date.
The Bears season conference record was 11-3, and their overall record 12-8.
It was a fine end to the season and a harbinger of things to come as the team participates in the NCAA qualifier this next weekend at home followed by the Mid Atlantic Conference Championships the week after.
