|High School:||Leonardtown High School|
Major: Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Why did you choose to come to the Coast Guard Academy? By the time I was a junior in high school, I knew that the college I went to would be a military academy, would have a Naval Architecture major, and would have a sailing team. Basically, I had to decide between USNA and CGA. I eventually chose Coast Guard because I like their mission more than Navy's: to save lives rather than take them.
How long have you been sailing? How did you start sailing? I have only been sailing four years; I learned how to sail the summer befoe my freshman year of high school, and joined a high school team that fall as a crew.
What is your favorite thing about the sailing team at Coast Guard? I like how the team is so close to each other, no matter what different classes we are back up the hill.
What are your future sailing plans and career goals after graduation? I definitely want to keep sailing throughout my life; one of my high school coaches is nearly 70, and still races his yacht, so that is a big inspiration to me. As for career, I want to fly helicopters in the Coast Guard.
Tell us something that your teammates would be surprised to know about you. I can solve a Rubik's Cube in less than one minute.
