Women's Championship Moved to Coast Guard
Boston, MA--(4/9/13)--The New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association announced today that the 2014 Women's New England Championship will be sailed at the US Coast Guard Academy instead of Dartmouth College as previously planned. An unusually cold beginning to the spring season has left Dartmouth's venue, Lake Mascoma, completely frozen over and thus unsailable. Instead, women's sailing in New England will descend upon the Thames River to not only compete for the conference championship but also for eight coveted berths to the College Sailing Women's National Championship Semi-Finals.
The No. 11 Bears will look to better their performance from last year's New England Championship when they narrowly edged several New England rivals to secure the last berth to the Semi-Finals. Coast Guard has consistently finished amongst the top teams in New England for the entire season and will capitalize on having the championship sailed on their home waters.
Fans, family, and friends are encouraged to come cheer on the Bears during the competition at Jacobs Rock, which will be going on from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday, April 19-20. GO BEARS!
