Bears Advance to New England Team Race Championship

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- With a record of sixteen wins and four losses, Coast Guard finished second at the Staake Trophy hosted by Connecticut College and earned a berth at the NEISA Team Race Championship for the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy, which will also be hosted by Connecticut College.

Four round robins of all teams were completed throughout the weekend in mostly a northeast breeze ranging from four to eight knots. The Bears suffered just one loss per round on their way to a qualifying position. The Connecticut College Camels won their home event with a record of nineteen wins and one loss. 

Sailing for the Bears was Anna Morin, Maddie Ekin, Brian Nelson, Christina Nothacker, Liam Ballantyne, Andrew Widmeier, Mack Fox, Dana Rohde, Austin Lettengarver, and Shane Riera

Twelve qualifiers will participate in the NEISA Team Race Championships on April 7-8. The top four will advance to the ICSA APS Team Race National Championship to be held in Norfolk, VA over Memorial Day weekend.
