#25 MIT Sweeps Bears

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT, rankesd 25th nationally, swept the Bears in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader winning the opener 1-0 before capturing the nightcap 6-1.

MIT improves to 17-3 overall and 9-3 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 13-15 overall and 1-11 in conference action.

The Bears are back in action on Saturday when they host Clark in a doubleheader at noon.

GAME ONE – MIT 1, COAST GUARD 0

Ravenne Nasser fired a four-hit shutout, did not walk a batter and fanned eight to improve to 8-2 on the season.

Michelle Wist's RBI single in the third accounted for the only run as the Engineers blanked the Bears.

Freshman Julia Ferris (6-9) was the tough luck loser as she scattered six hits and allowed an earned run.

Freshman Courtney McKenna had two of the Bears four hits in the loss.

GAME TWO – MIT 6, COAST GUARD 1

MIT exploded for four runs in the first inning and never looked back as Deanna Delgado and Amber VanHemel combined on a one hitter allowing just one unearned run.

Coast Guard trailed 6-0 and got on the board in the sixth on an RBI single by freshman Audrey Bartz.

Ferris (6-10) worked the first two innings and took the loss for Coast Guard.
