LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their All-Region Teams Wednesday afternoon as sophomore Carly Hattman and senior Emma Hvozdovich both earned All-Region honors.
Hattman was a second team selection at first base while Hvozdovich was a third team at-large selection. It is the first time either player earned All-Region honors.360 players were chosen for the 2018 NFCA Division III All-Region softball teams from eight NCAA softball regions.
Hattman, who missed the last 14 games last season with an injury, had a breakout season leading the NEWMAC with a .450 batting average. She led the Bears and was fifth in the NEWMAC with 17 stolen bases and led the team and was seventh in the conference with 35 runs scored. Hattman also led the team with a .500 on base percentage.
Hvozdovich hit .366 and led the Bears with three doubles, eight homers, 40 RBI's and a .713 slugging percentage. Her eight homers were tied for the most in the NEWMAC while she was third with her 40 RBI's, the seventh most in a single-season in program history. She is the first Coast Guard player to earn first team All-NEWMAC honors since Jessie Richardson in 2014.
She finishes her career fifth all-time at the Academy with 17 homers, sixth with 106 runs scored and 105 RBI's and ninth with 144 hits.
