Bears Split to Close Regular Season

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Coast Guard split a pair of games on Senior Day as the Bears recognized the program's three seniors, Leslie Majcher, Molly Smith and Breanna Townsend.

Coast Guard lost URI 16-9 before a thrilling 14-13 double overtime win over Army.

The Bears finish the regular season 8-2.

Sophomore Elizabeth Surgent scored the game-winner, one of her team leading six in the game, in double overtime to beat the Black Knights for the first ever win over Army in women's lacrosse.

Junior Victoria Borges added four goals in the win. Freshman goalie Hannah Delguerco finished with 12 saves in the win for the Bears.

In the loss to URI, Borges, Surgent, sophomore Lucy Daghir and sophomore Anne Schneider each had two goals for Coast Guard while Delguerco had ten saves.

The third-seeded Bears are back in action when they take on sixth-seeded Cortland in the NEWLL tournament on Saturday at URI.
