SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Coast Guard women's lacrosse team fell to Springfield College 14-1 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.
With the loss the Bears fall to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference while the Pride improve to 6-4 on the season and stay unbeaten in the NEWMAC at 0-3.
Coast Guard's lone goal scorer was sophomore Anna McGoldrick.
Leading Springfield was Shelby Corsano who had a game high five points with four goals and one assist. Corsano also netted her 100th career goal in the first half. Kristen Steidler had three goals and an assist while Katie Stallone, Julia Bireley and Allie Goddard each had two goals.
Springfield ran out to an 8-0 lead in the first half and scored six more in the second to conclude their third conference win of the season. The Pride's defense was strong holding the Bears to only three shots.
Senior Hannah Delguercio (3-8) made nine saves on 31 shots allowing 14 goals. She is third in the NEWMAC with 94 saves on the season and fifth in goals against average (11.55).
Gabby Anderson (6-4) started in goal making two saves on three shots and allowing one goal. Brenna Keefe played the final 16:35 facing zero shots.
Coast Guard is back in action this Saturday, April 8th, when they host the Emerson Lions in NEWMAC action. Opening draw is 1:00.
