NEW LONDON, Conn. – For the second straight year, senior Daria McKenna was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll for the 2018 Season.
The IWLCA honored 639 student-athletes from 189 different institutions on the 2018 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
McKenna, an Operations Research and Computer Analysis major, was also named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team for the third straight year earlier this season and to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team. She is the first player in program history to score over 100 points and is the program leader in points (133), goals (84) and assists (49).
Coast Guard set a program record with 12 wins and qualified for the NEWMAC tournament for the first time in program history. The team also won a tournament game taking down Wheaton 8-7 in the conference tournament quarterfinal for the first time in program history, earning a spot in the NEWMAC semi-final. The Bears finished the season 12-7 and 4-4 in NEWMAC play, winning their first ever conference regular season games as well.
