Nate Giorgio, Taylor Place Second at York Invitational

YORK, Pa.—Sophomore All-America Nate Giorgio and junior Luke Taylor each placed second as Coast Guard placed 11th of 13 teams at the York College New Standard Invitational.

Giorgio, the top seed in the 133 bracket, rolled into the final with wins of 12-2, 6-0 and 4-0 before losing 2-1 to  second-seeded Dan Herr from the College of New Jersey in the championship match.

Last season, Giorgio was the 125 pound champion at the York Invitational.

Taylor, the #2 seed at 174 pounds, advanced to the final with wins of 16-0, 3-2 and a medical forfeit before he lost to top-seeded Jules Doliscar from Ithaca, 11-3 in the championship match.

Sophomore Mike Giorgio won three matches at 149 pounds while sophomores Steve Kidwell and Ben Greene each picked up a pair of wins at 157 pounds.

Coast Guard will have its first dual meet of the season on Wednesday, when the Bears host Roger Williams at 7 p.m.
