Bears Drop Final Dual Meet of Season
PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The 27th ranked Johnson & Wales University wrestling squad posted a 42-6 victory against Coast Guard in a Pilgrim League contest at the Wildcat Center on Friday evening in the final dual meet of the season.
Blake McNulty opened the evening at 197 pounds with a commanding 19-3 tech fall victory in a time of 5:06 while Humphrey Swift followed with a pin fall victory in a time of 1:05. A thrilling 3-2 win by Joe Pronk put the Wildcats up 20-0.
After a commanding 14-5 major decision by freshman Justin Colon put JWU up 24-0, Daniel Franco recorded a victory to extend the lead to 27-0 with a 9-2 win at 149 pounds.
Freshman Holden Takahashi put Coast Guard on the board win a pin fall victory in a time of 3:53 at 157 pounds. It wouldn't be enough, however as the Wildcats used a pair of forfeit wins, sandwiched around a win by Connor Nelson at 174 pounds en route to the 42-6 victory.
With the win Johnson & Wales improves to 14-7 overall and 3-2 in the Pilgrim League while Coast Guard falls to 5-13 for the year and 1-4 in the conference.
