ANNAPOLIS, Md. - No. 16 Coast Guard was the top Division III team at the 23rd annual All-Academy Championships hosted by the United States Naval Academy.
The Bears finished in sixth place with 11.5 points followed by rival Merchant Marine in seventh with 7 points and Norwich in eighth with three points.
Remke fell to junior Drew Daniels in his opening bout before winning consecutive matches topping Ruston Hill II of the Citadel 6-4 and Cade Kiely of VMI 3-2. Remke fell to Tyler Wiederholt in the third place match dropping a 14-7 decision.
After falling to Beau Billingsley in the opening round, Palomba went on to pin Martin Duane of the Citdael in 5:35 and then took a 12-7 decision from Shabaka Johns of VMI. Palomba finished off his day against Michael Billingsley who earned a tech. fall against Palomba in 3:52.
Other wrestlers earning victories on the day was senior Earl Roberts (125) over Patrick Kearney of the Citadel 9-8, senior Matt McAllister (141) over Daniel May of Merchant Marine 6-2, senior Matt Vieira (149) major decision over Tyler Ayers of Norwich 15-6, No. 5 junior Chris Sullivan (157) over Erik Bashada of Merchant Marine 9-7 and senior Daniel Fiorvanti (184) over Chandler Sambets 5-2.
Coast Guard is back in action Saturday, February 4, when they travel to Bridgewater St. for a quad meet against host Bridgewater, WPI and No. 14 NYU.
