WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Owen McClave and AJ Aeberli both went 2-0 as No.22 Coast Guard went 1-1 on the day falling to No. 20 Roger Williams and topping Bridgewater State Saturday afternoon at WPI.

With the split, the Bears are now 8-6 on the season and secure their fourth straight winning season under head coach Kevin Bratland.

Match One: No. 20 Roger Williams 26 No. 22 Coast Guard 16

Coast Guard fell behind 20-4 early on and could not climb out of the hole with a number of late victories, falling to Roger Williams 26-16.

After the Hawks took a 6-0 lead after a forfeit at 125, McClave secured his first victory of the day with a major decisions over Tristan Haviland giving the Bears four points at 133.

Roger Williams rattled off four straight victories before Aeberli, ranked eighth in the country at 174, stopped the run with 8-3 decisions over Brett Leondard making the score 23-7.

Sophomore Jeremy Berson (184) and freshman Jonathan Wagner (197) brought Coast Guard back within seven points (23-16) going into the final match as Berson earned a 11-5 decision over Connor Humphries followed by a pin by Wagner of Mark Fernandes in 4:57.

The Hawks however put the match away at 285 as Adam Patsun took a tight match from senior Cory Tomasetti 3-2 to finish off the match and send Roger Williams to their 19th win of the season.

Match Two: No. 22 Coast Guard 40 Bridgewater State 9

The Bears won seven on nine matches on their way to a 40-9 victory over Bridgewater State.

After a double forfeit at 125, McClave and freshman Steven Pangelinan each recorded tech. falls in less than four minutes for a 10-0 lead.

Bridgewater State recorded their nine points at 149 and 157 before Remke (165), Aeberli (174) and sophomore George McBurney (197) all recorded pins while Wagner and Tomasetti both won by forfeit giving Coast Guard the 40-9 victory.

The Bears are back in action on Thursday, February 8th when they travel to Kings Point, New York to wrap up their dual meet schedule with a match against rival Merchant Marine. First match is 6:00.
