PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Coast Guard, ranked 23rd nationally rolled to its fifth straight win, a 45-3 victory over host Rhode Island College.
The Bears won nine of the ten matches including three forfeits to improve to 5-1 in dual meets this season.
Coast Guard pick up forfeits at both 125 and 133 to jump out to a 12-0 lead to start the match.
JD FitzPatrick (141) and Marco Dominguez (149) each registered major decisions as the Bears pushed the lead to 20-0.
Coast Guard won at 184 by forfeit, Jon Wagner earned a 6-3 decision at 197 before Patrick Irwin ended the night with a 14-3 win at heavyweight.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Meet Championships at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The Bears are the #2 seed and will open up against #15 Norwich. Coast Guard placed fourth at the New England Dual Championships last season.
