Hills had two goals and an assist while Netusil added two goals of her own. This is the third year in a row that the Bears have opened the season with a win.
Coast Guard was thwarted by good goalkeeping early on when Hannah Jansson sent in a free kick from thirty yard out that found the feet of Netusil. She turned and fired a point black shot but was stopped by sophomore goalkeeper Kate Kneeland who sprawled to her right to make the save.
There was a handball off the rebound of Netusil's shot which led to a Bears penalty kick. Netusil stepped up to take the kick but was once again stopped by a diving Kneeland who managed to hold the shot.
Just over halfway through the first half, Netusil had her revenge as broke free of the final defender finding herself one on one with Kneeland. Netusil slotted the ball into the right corner of the net for her first goal of the season.
Hills finished off the scoring in the first half when she received a pass from freshman Olivia Holt, took one touch and buried a shot in the left side netting for her first goal of the season. The assist was Holt's first point in a Coast Guard uniform.
Shortly into the second half Bear's freshman Kali Borden drove a corner kick into the box that bounced around as the AMCATS were unable to clear the ball. The ball finally came to Hills feet where she shot it into the left corner for her second goal of the game.
Just over two minutes later, Hills and Netusil teamed up for their final points of the game as Hills passed a ball across the front of the goal and Netusil one timed it into the back of the net for her second of the game.
At the 62:42 mark, Borden once again took a corner and this time found Holt waiting for the cross. Holt took a touch and drove a hard shot in the right corner of the net for her first goal at the Academy.
Sophomore Elley Donnelly wrapped up the scoring for the Bears with just under twenty minutes left as she followed up her missed shot, and found the back of the net for the first goal of her career as well.
Anna Maria had one shot in the game and they made it count as junior Rebecca Mauricio took a free kick from the top of the box, 25 yards out. Her shot curled just over the top of the wall and into the left corner of the Coast Guard goal for her first of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Boohar made her first career start for the Bears facing only one shot and allowing one goal. She is 1-0-0 on the season.
Kneeland made 13 saves on 19 shots faced dropping her record to 0-1-0 early on in the season. Coast Guard outshot the AMCATS 34-1.
The Bears return to action on September 9th when they host Nichols College in a nonconference game. Kickoff is 7:00.
