CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In their final game of the season Coast Guard fell to MIT 5-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.
With the loss the Bears finish the season at 6-8-4 overall and 2-6-2 in the conference. The Engineers are now 15-4-1 on the season and 8-1-1 in the NEWMAC.
Freshman Montana Reilly got the scoring started for MIT as she received a cross from junior Olivia Struckman and buried her shot into the bottom left corner for a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.
The Engineers pushed their lead to two in the 24th minute as Struckman received a through ball from sophomore Amy Apostol and finished the breakaway to add a goal to her assist.
MIT added three more goals in the second half to finish off the 5-0 win.
Sophomore Rachel Boohar (6-8-4) made eight saves on 13 shots on goal. Boohar finished the year with 111 saves giving her 224 for her career putting her in fourth place all time in program history.
Senior Lauren Ullmann (15-4-1) made six saves on six shots on goal for her ninth shutout of the year.
Coast Guard graduates six seniors (Moira Meek, Terry Netusil, Katie Clark, Brianna Grisell, Emily Mathews and Alyssa Sato) but will look to the valuable minutes the underclassmen received this year balanced by the nine returning upperclassmen to make a run at the NEWMAC Tournament next season. Thanks you to the six seniors for all they have done for the women's soccer program.
