MADISON, N.J. – The Coast Guard women's soccer team dropped their first game of the season, falling to Drew 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the Drew College Tournament.
With the loss, the Bears drop to 2-1 on the season while the Rangers improve to 3-1.
Sophomore Sarah Racine scored an unassisted goal for her second of the year and the eighth of her career for Drew.
The Rangers found the back of the net midway through first half as Racine touched the ball past her defender in the attacking third and hit a curling shot from 25 yards out into the upper corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead with 21:21 on the clock.
The Bears turned up the pressure in the second half outshooting Drew 5-1 and forcing four saves but could not find the equalizer as Coast Guard dropped the first game of the Drew College Tournament 1-0.
Freshman Katharina Commins (2-1) made three saves allowing only her third goal of the season.
Sophomore Madison Dudziec (3-1) made six saves for her second shutout of the season.
Coast Guard is back in action tomorrow, September 9that noon when they take on Penn State-Behrend on the final day of the Drew Tournament.
