MADISON, NJ-- Coast Guard women's soccer fell 3-1 against #14 Swarthmore on Sunday afternoon at the Bard tournament. The Bears drop to 0-4 on the season, while Swarthmore improves to 3-1.
Kim Kockenmeister put Swarthmore on the board first when she chipped in a cross from Brittany Weiderhold in the sixth minute up with her fifth goal of the season.
Brittany Weiderhold scored her second goal of the season to extend the Swarthmore lead 2-0 off a cross from Sydney Covitz in the 65th minute. Coast Guard cut the deficit, 2-1 when Felicia Lombardi put away her first goal of the season in the 66th minute.
Brittany Weiderhold tallied her third goal of the season off a cross from Kim Kockenmeister in the 71st minute to give Swarthmore the 3-1 final.
Swarthmore held the advantage in shots 20-12 and in corner kicks, 5-1.
Chantal Reyes and Lillian Keller split time in net for Swarthmore. Reyes recorded four saves and Keller turned away two shots. The Bears freshman goalkeeper Sarah Schollenberger made a season-high six saves in the loss.
The Bears are back in action on the road on Thursday, September 12 when they travel to Salve Regina.
