Sao Leads Bears at WPI

WORCESTER, Mass.-- Junior Darlene Sao won both the 100 (54.98) and the 200 freestyle (1:58.76) and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team to lead the Coast Guard women's swimming and diving team at the preliminaries of the Gompei Invitational hosted by WPI on Sunday.

Coast Guard's 400 freestyle relay team of sophomore Patti Eidenire, freshman Rachel Seaman, senior Chantel Ferguson and Sao won with a time of 3:41.10.

Junior Sara Cantrell qualified for the 1-meter NCAA Regional with a score of 397.1.

Ferguson took second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:43.37 while Eidenire was third in the 100 freestyle (55.58) and sophomore Haley McWilliams placed fourth in the 1,650 freestyle (19:48.45).

The Bears 200 medley relay team of Sao, junior Kelsey Gray, Ferguson and Eidenire placed third with a time of 1:55.10.
