Sao, Ferguson Lead CGA Past Rival Mariners

KINGS POINT, N.Y. –  Junior Darlene Sao won three individual events and was part of winning relay leading Coast Guard to a 175-114 win over rival Merchant Marine.

Senior Chantel Ferguson won the 1,000 freestyle (11:21.94) as well as the 100 butterfly (1:01.40) and was part of two winning relays in the win as the Bears improved to 2-6 on the season.

Sao won the 50 freestyle (25.68), the 200 freestyle (2:00.61) and the 200 IM (2:16.48) while the Bears 200 medley relay team of Sao, Kelsey Gray, Ferguson and Patti Eidenire won in 1:55.22.

The 400 free relay team of Eidenire, Rachel Seaman, Caitlyn Gever and Ferguson won in 3:47.77

Sara Cantrell won both the 1-meter (232.95) and the 3-meter boards (255.90) while Miranda Fay won the 500 freestyle in 5:37.19.

Eidenire was second in the 50 freestyle (25.89) and the 100 freestyle (56.55) while Fay took second in the 1,000 freestyle (1:25.19), Abby Isaacs was second in the 100 backstroke (1:04.39), Sydney Wagner was second in the 200 backstroke (2:26.56), Kaitlyn Toth placed second in the 200 butterlfy (2:22.91), Carlie Gilligan placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.94).

Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday when they host Clark in the final home meet of the season at noon.
