Bears Set Three Pool Records in Senior Day Win

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Freshman Emily Benson broke All-American Kim Shadwick's pool record in the 500 freestyle as three pool records fell in the Bears 196-65 win over Clark on Senior Day.

The Bears won every event with Benson posting a time of 5:07.39 in the 500 freestyle while she also won the 200 butterfly (2:14.89) and the 200 IM (2:14.73). Shadwick, whose record was broken, is now an assistant coach with the Bears.

Junior Kristen Young broke the pool record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.64 and she also won the 50 freestyle (24.91).

The Bears 200 freestyle relay of freshman Hannah Fernandes, freshman Felicia Lombardi, senior Jacklyn Kokomoor and Young set the pool record with a time of 1:39.93.

Freshman Sarah Passilla won the 100 backstroke (1:01.80) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.94) and sophomore Elena Calese won the 1-meter diving with a score of 155.2 and the 3-meter event with a score of 157.7.

Senior Julianne Rogers won the 100 breaststroke (1:14.22), Felicia Lombardi won the 100 freestyle (55.98), senior Tricia Talens won the 200 backstroke (2:21.00) and sophomore Alex Lombardi won the 200 breaststroke (2:42.67).

The Bears 200 medley relay of  Talens, Rogers, Benson and Kokomoor won with a time of 1:54.85.

The Bears, who won every event, improved to 4-5 in dual meets close out the dual meet portion of the season on Saturday against Division I Fairfield and host Wesleyan at 1:00.
