Women's 800 Free Relay Earns Spot at NCAA Championships

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Coast Guard Academy women's 800 freestyle relay has qualified for the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on March 21-24 in Indianapolis.

The 800 freestyle relay of freshman Emily Benson, junior Kristen Young, freshman Sarah Passilla and junior Christine McCulla won the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship with a school record time of 7:34.41, the 12th fastest time in Division III this season.

Once invited to the NCAA Championship swimmers may compete in other events. This relay team will also swim the 200 and 400 freestyle relays while Benson will also swim the 1,650 freestyle.
