NEW LONDON, Conn. – Wheaton's Lydia Dacorte broke pool records in 1000 freestyle and the 200 butterfly leading Wheaton, ranked 23rd nationally to a narrow 148-146 win over Coast Guard.
The meet came down to the final event, the 400 freestyle relay which Wheaton won by two one-hundreds of a second.
Senior Kristen Durham-Young won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.76, the 100 freestyle in 54.20 and the 200 freestyle in 1:56.90 for the Bears.
Wheaton improves to 2-1 on the season while the Bears drop to 2-2 on the year.
Freshman Sophie Furigay won the 200 backstroke in a school-record time of 2:10.48, senior Celia Marzinsky won the 100 butterfly (1:01.15), sophomore Sarah Passilla won the 200 IM (2:13.81) and junior Elena Calese won the 3-meter diving event with 160.50 points for Coast Guard.
The Bears are back in action on Nov. 10th when the Bears take on Southern Connecticut and host WPI at noon.
