Bears Sweep WPI and Southern Connecticut State

WORCESTER, Mass.-- Women's swimming and diving swept WPI and Division II Southern Connecticut State in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon at WPI.

Coast Guard defeated Southern Connecticut State, 186-114, and 161-139 over WPI.

Senior Kristen Durham-Young finished on top in the 50 Free at 24.85, the 100 Fly at 59.49 and the 200 Free at 1:57.10.

Coast Guard secured a win in 400 Medley with the relay team of Sophia Furigay, Sarah Passilla, Celia Marzinsky, and Emily Benson finishing with a final time of 4:07.69.

Josie McGuire took the top spot in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:48.79. Furigay earned two, first place victories in the 100 Back with a 1:00.84 finish and the 200 Back at 2:20.21.

Passilla finished first in the 100 Free with a time of 54.68. McGuire finished in the number one spot in the 500 Free, touching the wall at 5:14.07.

Furigay, Benson, McGuire, and Durham-Young closed the meet with a first place victory in the 200 Free Relay with a final time of 1:41.36.

Coast Guard will return to the pool on Saturday, December 1 at 10:00 AM in the Connecticut Cup at Wesleyan.
