MIDDLETOWN, Conn.-- Women's swimming and diving placed second overall with a score of 554 in the Connecticut Cup on Saturday afternoon. Senior Kristen Durham-Young finished first overall in three events of the day. Seniors Celia Marzinsky and freshman Josie McGuire both had top finishes in two races each.
Durham-Young placed first in the 50 Free at 24.67, 100 Free at 52.92, and the 200 Free with a time of 1:56.29. Marzinsky won the 100 Free touching the wall at 59.58 and the 200 Fly at 2:10.74. Freshman Sophia Furigay finished on top in the 200 Back with a time of 2:08.01
McGuire and sophomore Emily Benson took the top two spots in both the 500 Free and the 1650 Free. McGuire finished the 500 free in first place at 5:11.16 while Benson finished at 5:16.57. McGuire finished first in the 1650 with a time of 17:36.08 and Benson finished at 18:31.04.
Connecticut College took the top spot (582). The Bears finished second (554), Wesleyan placed third (388), Eastern Connecticut State finished fourth (195), Saint Joe's (CT) placed fifth (161), and Western Connecticut State finished last (110).
Coast Guard will return to action on January 10 at 1:00 PM against Babson and Wellesley at Wellesley.
