Wellesley, Mass.-- Coast Guard women's swimming and diving swept the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) dual meet on Thursday afternoon over Babson and Wellesley. The Bears defeated the Blue, 166-134 and the Beavers, 216-80.
Coast Guard swimming finished in first place for 10/14 events in the pool. Freshman Josie McGuire finished first in two events, the 1000 Free with a 10:41.94 time and the 500 Free at 5:15.80.
Sophia Furigay, Kristen Durham-Young, and Sarah Passilla all finished in first place in two events during the dual meet. Furigay took first in the 100 Back at 1:00.45 and the 200 Back with a time of 2:09.59
Durham-Young topped the 200 Free with a 1:56.9 time and the 50 Free at 25.11. Passilla touched the wall at 1:11.49 in the 100 Breast and then finished the 100 Free in 54.45. Senior Cece Marzinsky earned a first place finish in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:13.64.
McGuire, Furigay, Emily Benson, and Durham-Young combined for a first place finish in the 400 Free relay with a time of 3:39.78.
Coast Guard returns home on Saturday, January 12 for a 12:00 PM meet against MIT.
