800 Free Relay Wins NEWMAC Championship With Record Breaking Time

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bears 800 freestyle relay broke the school and meet record and won the championship for the second straight season on the opening night of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship at WPI.

Sarah Passilla, Kristen Durham-Young, Emily Benson and Josie McGuire won with the record breaking time and NCAA B cut time of 7:31.09 breaking the meet record of 7:32.30 set by MIT in 2015 and breaking  the school record of 7:34.41 set last season by Passilla, Durham-Young, Benson and Christine McCulla in winning the NEWMAC Championship last season.

The Bears sit in first place with 66 points heading into the second of the four day championship.

The NEWMAC Championship continues tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
