Bears Win Own Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn.—Lead by juniors Emily Trudeau and Hannah Seeland, Coast Guard's throwers secured the top three spots in the weight throw and four scoring places in the shot put as Coast Guard won the CGA Winter Invite #2.

The Bears held off Westfield, beating the Owls by one point 87.5 to 86.5 while Eastern Connecticut placed third with 44 points and Trinity was fourth with 33 points.

Seeland won the weight throw with a toss of 46' 9" while Trudeau was the runner-up in the shot put throwing 38' 7.75".

Also in the field events, multi-eventer Abby Bishop won the long jump with a top jump of 16' 5". Monet Masters soared over 10 feet to tie her school record in the pole vault.

In the sprints, freshman Madison Ahlers won the 200 meter dash finishing in 28.77.

In the distance events, Rachel Hill won the 800 meter run holding off Westfield State's Amy Trainque in a strategic race running 2:30.73.

Sophomore Beth Gollin secured first place in the mile crossing the finish in 5:29.16. Freshman Jess Mulroy was the runner up in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 11:22.32.

Coast Guard's 4x800 meter relay of Gollin, Hill, Ellie Wu, and Mulroy took first place running 10:23.28.

Coast Guard will travel to Springfield, Mass. for the Springfield College Invite next Saturday.
