SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Coast Guard had several outstanding performances as the Bears placed fifth of 12 teams at the Springfield College Invitational.
Monet Masters soared over 10 feet in the pole vault to take second place while Abby Bishop took second place in the long jump with a leap of 16' 10.25".
In the throwing events, Emily Trudeau and Katie Nielsen were 3rd and 4th in the shot put throwing 38'6.25" and 37' 10". Then in the weight throw, Hannah Seeland had a toss of 45' 4.25" to take 5th place.
On the track, Beth Gollin led the way taking 3rd in the mile running a D III New England qualifying time of 5:22.80.
In the 5000 meter run, teammates Jess Mulroy and Meghan Kalinowski were 7th and 9th posting their best times of 19:37.21 and 19:42.79.
In the sprints, Madison Ahlers ran her first collegiate 400 meter dash placing 5th with a time of 1:02.95. Teammates Kristen Euchler and Rachel Hill both hit qualifying marks in the 600 meters running 1:44.40 and 1:44.61 placing 7th and 8th.
In the final event of the women's meet, Euchler, Mulroy, Kalinowski, and Gollin took 3rd in the 4x800 relay running 10:25.62.
St. Lawrence won the meet with 113 points, host Springfield was second with 82 points followed by Amherst 68.5, Westfield State 52, Coast Guard 42, WPI 41, AIC 39, RPI 32, Keene State 24, Mount Holyoke 22, Trinity 19 and Eastern Connecticut 18.5.
