Women’s Track and Field Wraps Up at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-Seniors Hannah Seeland and Emily Trudeau compiled a pair of top ten finishes for the Coast Guard women's track and field team at the MIT Invitational on Saturday.

Seeland grabbed a fourth place finish in the weight throw with a best toss of 49 feet, 3 inches and came eighth in the shot put throwing a long of 37 feet, 6 inches. Trudeau earned a fourth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 3.25 inches and came tenth in the weight throw with distance of 42 feet, 3.5 inches.

Junior Kyle Sutschek and sophomore Katie Nielsen continued Coast Guard's good work in the field events. Sutschek checked in at ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 42 feet, 8.25 inches while Nielsen registered a sixth place finish in the shot put with a long of 37 feet, 10.75 inches.

Sophomore Carolyn Smith clocked a fifth place finish in the 3000 meter run finishing in a time of 10:49.65 while junior Kendall Auth placed tenth in the same event, finishing in 11:05.17 to wrap up top performances for the Bears.

Coast Guard returns to action on Saturday, February 15th when they compete at the Tufts Cupid Challenge.
