Bishop Shatters Own School-Record in Pentathlon to Earn All-NE Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Senior Abby Bishop shattered her own school-record in the pentathlon with 3,215 points to place fourth earning All-New England honors at the Division III New England Championships at Springfield College.
Bishop, who placed fifth last year with 2,950 points in the event, was second in both the shot put (31 feet, 3.25 inches) and the 800 meters (2:22.91), fourth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.57), seventh in the high jump (4 feet, 11.5 inches) and eight in the long jump (15 feet, nine inches) in the five events.
Junior Peyton Dostie from Southern Maine won the pentathlon with 3,362 points, MIT senior Jaclyn Konopka was second (3,250) and Bowdoin sophomore Addison Carvajal was third with 3,232 points, just 17 ahead of Bishop.
