Bears Win Four Events at Springfield Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Coast Guard won four events en route to a fifth place finish at the Springfield Invitational.

Sophomore Monet Masters won the pole vault (10 feet, 11 inches), junior Kyle Sutscheck won the discus (129 feet, 5 inches) and senior Hannah Seeland won the hammer (141 feet, 4 inches) for the Bears.

The Bears all freshmen 4x400 relay of Chloe Benoist, Jennifer Haley, Gretchen Krause and Bonny Turnage won in 4:17.65.

Freshman Jennifer Haley was second in the 1,500 meters (5:12.26).

Freshman Gretchen Krause was third in the 800 meters (2:23.92), junior Kendall Auth was third in the 5,000 meters (19:16.70), sophomore Casey Fall was third in the pole vault (10 feet),

Sutscheck was also fourth in the hammer (129-9) for Coast Guard.

Coast Guard finished with 83.5 points in fifth slightly behind UMass Dartmouth (83.7) while Worcester State won with 159 points.

The Bears are back in action Saturday at the NEWMAC Championships at Mount Holyoke.
