NEW LONDON, Conn.-Three Coast Guard student-athletes have earned an invitation to compete at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. The Championships will be held from Thursday, May 22nd through Saturday, May 24th on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
Senior Adam Scalesse, a five-time All-American in multiple hurdle events, has earned his eighth trip to the NCAA Championships (4 indoor, 4 outdoor) and will be seeded first in the 110 meter hurdles at 14.05 seconds. Qualifying will take place on Friday, May 23rd at 6:45 pm with the finals slated for 2:40 pm on Saturday, May 24th.
Senior Abby Bishop will make her first appearance at the NCAA Championships in the heptathlon where she is seeded 12th at 4,538 points. Events will begin at noon on Thursday and will wrap up on Friday, May 23rd.
Junior Beth Gollin will be making her second straight trip to the NCAA Championships and is seeded 14th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 10:50.57. The steeplechase qualifying will be held on Thursday, May 22nd at 4:30 pm will the finals taking place on Saturday, May 24th at 1:00 pm.
