Bynum Sets Long Jump Record as Bears Win Tri-Meet

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Kristina Bynum broke the school record in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, four inches to win the event as Coast Guard won a home tri-meet with Springfield and WPI.

Coast Guard's 4x100 relay team of Caroline Jenkins, Sarah Cummings, Molly Yuan and Anna Beck also broke the school record with a time of 50.59 to place second.

The Bears finished with 131 points edging Springfield (129) and WPI (124).

Bonny Turnage won the 1,500 meters (4:59.66), Jenkins captured the 100 hurdles (16.27), Adora Lawrence won the 400 meters (1:00.68) and Gabrielle Troise won the shot put (39 feet, 8.5 inches) and Caitlin Piker won the javelin (130 feet, 11 inches).
