WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Records fell on day two as the women's track and field team finished in 18th place at the Division III New England Championship hosted by Williams.
MIT took home the victory with 167 points while the hosts were second with 153.5 points.
Senior Caitlin Piker earned All-New England honors for the second season in a row taking third place in the javelin with a season best throw of 134-11. Piker is currently fifth in Division III New England and also holds the school record from a year ago (135-07) when she qualified for the NCAA Championship and earned a 12th place finish. Piker also finished in 12th place in the discus (112-09).
The 4x400 comprised of senior Sarah Cummings (59.4) and freshmen Anna Beck (58.9), Adora Lawrence (58.0) and Madeline Colwell (58.7) earned All-New England honors as well with a fourth place finish in 3:55.27. The team broke their school record set last week at the NEWMAC championship by more than four seconds. The time could potentially move them into the top five in Division III New England and the top 30 in all of Division III.
Beck also earned All-New England honors in an individual event as she finished in sixth place in the 400 crossing the line in 57.82. Her time also smashes the school record by almost two seconds set last season by Madison Ahlers. Her time should vault in her into the top 10 in Division III New England.
Lawrence continued her fast season in the 800 running 2:15.37 for an 11th place finish. Lawrence currently own the school record set last week at the NEWMAC Championship and sits at 10th in Division III New England.
Sophomore Caroline Jenkins ran a season best time in the 400 hurdles finishing in 1:06.93 for a 14th place finish. Her time could potentially move her into the top 20 of Division III New England.
The Bears are back in action next weekend at the Open New England Championship hosted by Williams.
