MEDFORD, Mass. – The women's track & field top ten all-time list has been reshuffled to start the year as Coast Guard got off to a successful start to the 2018 season at the Tufts Invitational.
The Bears had their first 1-2 finish of the day in the 5K as senior Rachel Burchill won the event crossing the line in 19:07.89. Her time is the seventh fastest in program history. Sophomore Kirsten Carson finished in 19:41.33.
The other 1-2 finish for Coast Guard was senior Gabby Troise and freshman Leilani Salang in the weight throw. Troise took the top spot with a throw of 49.6.25 which is third in program history followed by Salang who started her career with the fifth longest throw in program history (49-1.0).
Troise and Salang also recorded top 10 finishes in the shot put with Troise taking third (39-9.75) and Salang taking ninth (35-0.5). Troise's throw is third in program history.
Junior Anita Green finished in third place in the mile with the ninth fastest time in school history of 5:23.99.
The 4x400 of Lawrence, Roach, freshman Mia Huncharek and Johnson finished in fourth place with a time of 4:15.26 which is eighth in program history.
Wrapping up the top ten finishes on the track was sophomore Caroline Jenkins in the 60 hurdles (10.22, seventh) and sophomore Olivia Suski (11:16.41, eighth). Jenkins time is fourth in program history.
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday, January 20th, when they travel to Kingston, Rhode Islande for the Sorllen Invitational hosted by URI.
