BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Freshman Kaitlyn Mooney finished in 5th place in the 3K earning All-America honors for the third time this season at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championship.
Mooney crossed the line in 9:40.81, breaking her own school record of 9:46.79. This is her second All-American performance of the weekend as she anchored the women's DMR to a seventh place finish yesterday. She is the first indoor track & field individual All-American since Jackie James earned the honors in 2000 in the 55m dash.
It has been a phenomenal freshman year for Mooney already who finished in fourth place at the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship and won the Open and Division III New England Championship in the 3K. Between the two season Mooney has set five school records.
Mooney and the rest of the women's track & field team kicks off the outdoor season on Saturday, March 31st at the Navy Open.
