Bears Place 4th at Coast Guard Spring Invitational, Troise Breaks School Record

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Kaitlyn Mooney won the 1,500 meters and was second in the 800 meters while senior Gabbie Troise set the school record in the hammer throw as host Coast Guard placed fourth in its own eight team Coast Guard Spring Invitational.

Westfield State won with 124.5 points, Trinity was second with 122 followed by Conn. College (110.5) and the Bears (106).

Mooney won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:47.92 and she was second in the 800 meters (2:20.16).

Troise was second in the hammer (164-10) and fourth in the both the discus (109-10) and the shot put (36-3.5). She broke her own school record of 160-7 set in 2016.

Caroline Jenkins took second in the 400 meter hurdles (1:10.78) and third in the 100 meter hurdles (16.64) while Anna Beck placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.47.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday when they host archrival Merchant Marine at 3:00 with a chance to secure the Superintendent's Trophy for the 2017-18 academic year.
