Bears Wrap Up Superintendent's Trophy With Dual Meet Victory

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Anna Beck won two individual events and was a member of a winning relay while senior Gabbie Troise and freshman Leilani Salang won two events each as the Coast Guard women's track & field team topped rival Merchant Marine 107-43

Combined with the men's victory, the Bears keep the trophy at the Academy once again winning 9.5-3.5.

In the throwing events, Troise took first in the javelin (93-01) and the hammer (160-06) while Salang won the Discus (127-07) and the shot (36-07).

On the track, Beck earned her first place finishes in the 100 (13.24) and 200 (27.48) and then teamed up with sophomores Taylor Rowles, Madeline Colwell and Mary Sims to win the 4x100 in 53.74.

Freshman Kaitlyn Mooney and junior Nina Ragle were also both winners for the Bears as Mooney took home the 1500 (4:42.97) and Ragle won the 400 Hurdles (1:16.79) and then teamed up with freshmen Maeve Roach and Emma Sims to win the 4x400 in 4:23.39.

Other first place finishers for Coast Guard were sophomore Hollis Roush in the 110 Hurdles (17.22), sophomore Olivia Suski in the 800 (2:26.01) and senior Rachel Burchill in the 5K (19:59.29).

Coast Guard is back in action this weekend at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Conn. College. Events start Friday night.
