Salang finished in second place in the event with a school record throw of 137-2 in her first throwing event of the weekend. Her throw tops Alexia Troise's throw of 136-7 from 2015 as the best throw in program history. Senior Gabbie Troise was ninth in the event with a throw of 121-5.
Sims ran to a fourth place finish in the 10K, crossing the line in 39:39.02 for the top five finish.
Sophomore Hollis Roush sits in fourth place in the heptathlon after day one of the event with 2388 points. She ran 16.99 in the 100 hurdles and 27.89 in the 200. In the high jump, she cleared 4-11.50 while throwing 32-2.75 in the shot put.
Coast Guard is back in action tomorrow at the final day of the Division III New England Championship at MIT.
