BRUNSWICK, Maine-- Sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney took first overall in both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters to lead Coast Guard women's track and field at the New England Division III Championships at Bowdoin this weekend. Mooney finished the 3000m at 9:36.61 and the 5000m at 16:36.89. The Bears finished ninth overall with 44 points.
Adora Lawrence finished second overall in the 400m with her second-best time this season at 58.13. Anna Beck followed behind with a fifth place finish at 59.17.
Senior Anita Green finished the 1000m in seventh place overall with a time of 2:59.48.
The 4x200 team of Caroline Jenkins, Anna Beck, Kristina Bynum, and Adora Lawrence finished in seventh overall at 1:47.75 to set a new Coast Guard record. The 4x400 team of Beck, Lawrence, Alexys Percival, and Jenkins also finished seventh overall in 4:05.03. The 4x800 team of Green, Mia Huncharek, Olivia Suski, and Mooney added another seventh place finish overall with a time of 9:37.94.
Kristina Bynum beat her personal best and is now third overall at Coast Guard in the long jump with leap of 17'0.75".
Leilani Salang finished fifth overall in the weight throw with a personal best and tied the Coast Guard all-time record (51'2.25"). She finished ninth overall in the shot put at (36' 10.50").
The Bears are back in action next Saturday at the Last Chance Qualifier at Tufts.
