Bears Open Outdoor Season with Record-Breaking Day at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, M.D.-- Coast Guard women's track and field opened their outdoor season with a fifth place finish and a record-breaking day at the Navy Spring Meet on Saturday.

Junior Anna Beck broke her own record in the 200m with a fourth place finish at 25.83.

Kristina Bynum set a new school record in the long jump with her fourth place finish at 17'5" (5.30m) to beat her own record.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney took a first place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:36.94, while senior Anita Green finished in fifth place to rank sixth all-time for Coast Guard with her time of 4:45.36.

Junior Adora Lawrence became the second all-time at Coast Guard in the 400m with her fourth place finish with a time of 57.93.

The 4x400 team of Beck, Lawrence, Caroline Jenkins, and Mary Sims, finished second overall with a time of 4:03.59 to become fifth all-time at Coast Guard.

Sophomore Leilani Salang finished fourth overall in the hammer throw with a 163'9" (49.92m) throw for the second all-time spot at Coast Guard.

The Bears are back in action on the road on Wednesday when they travel to Merchant Marine.
