AMHERST, Mass. – Coast Guard dropped a pair of matches at the Hall of Fame Tournament at Amherst College losing 3-1 to Bates and 3-0 to Bowdoin.
Freshman Mary Sweet earned a spot on the All-tournament team as she finished the day with 11 kills and a team-high four blocks.
The Bears, 17-10 on the season, are back in action on Tuesday when they host Amherst in the final non-conference match of the season at 7:00.
BATES 3, COAST GUARD 1
Bates won the opener 31-29 before the Bears evened the match with a 25-21 win, but the Bobcats on 25-14 and 25-17 for the win.
Coast Guard had three set points in the opener (25-25, 27-26 and 28-27), but could not close out the opener.
Freshman Amanda Dake led the Bears with 14 kills while junior Angelou Dunton had 12 kills and 17 digs and sophomore Bridget Boyle finished with 12 kills.
Sophomore Veronica Hine had a match-high 23 digs for the Bears while junior Makenna Martin had a match-high 43 assists to go with 11 digs.
BOWDOIN 3, COAST GUARD 0
Bowdoin won 25-16, 25-13, 28-26 in the final match of the day.
Boyle had a team-high nine kills while Dunton finished with six kills and nine digs.
Hine led the team with 12 digs and Martin registered 18 assists for Coast Guard.
