Bears Win Pair at Scranton Invitational

SCRANTON, Pa. - Freshman Noelle Tursky registered a pair of triple-doubles as Coast Guard won both matches on the second and final day of the Scranton Invitational.


Tursky tied for the team lead with 13 kills, led the Bears with 20 assists and added 10 digs in a 3-1 win over New Paltz, which advanced to the second round to the NCAA tournament last season.

Coast Guard won by game scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 25-13.

Amanda Dake and Angelou Dunton also each had a  team-high 13 kills while Dunton led the way with 18 digs and Dake added 16 for the Bears.

Makenna Martin added 17 assists in the win.


Coast Guard trailing two games to one rallied for the 3-2 win. The Bears won by game scores of 25-19, 16-25, 24-26, 25-15, 15-13.

Dake had a match-high 17 kills to go with 11 digs whille Tursky had another huge game with 14 kills, 17 digs and 22 assists. 

Dunton finished with 12 kills and 17 digs while Veronica Hine led the way with 21 digs in the win. 

Martin led the Bears with 24 assists to go with eight digs.

Coast Guard (1-1) is back in action on Wednesday night when the Bears host Trinity in the home opener at 7:00.
