Bears Place Second at UMass Dartmouth Invite

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS.--(9/17/11)--Coast Guard posted a second place finish at the 39th Annual UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational, which ties the teams best finish at this meet in school history.

MIT won the meet with 25 points. The Bears secured the 2nd place finish with 109 points edging out two top 10 ranked schools in the New England Region - #7 Wellesley College (3rd with 114 points) and #10 Brandeis University (4th with 148 points).

Coast Guard placed three runners in the top 20 among a field of over 200 runners. Freshman Beth Gollin was the Bears top finisher securing 8th place running 18:40. Junior Sarah Blatt and freshman Ellie Wu finished next covering the 5k course in 19:14 and 19:17 placing 15th and 19th respectively.

Also in scoring place was sophomore Meghan Kalinowski at 31st with a time of 19:33 and freshman Cameo Ulbricht at 38th finishing in 19:44.

Next Saturday, Coast Guard will travel to Williamstown, Mass. to compete to the Williams College Purple Valley Classic hosted at Mt. Greylock High School.
